Afuro Knights is a competitive gaming club based in Gaborone, Botswana. We exist to give gamers a place to do more than play.

We believe competitive gaming is more than the result at the end of a match. It’s the preparation, the people beside you, the pressure of competition and the feeling of putting on a badge and knowing you earned your place. That’s what we’re building.
Gaming already has the competition. Players already have the games they love. What we want to build is everything around them. Afuro Knights brings players together into organised squads, creates opportunities to compete, develops talent and builds a community around the games we play. Whether you’re chasing your first tournament win or looking for a team to call home, there’s a place to start.
We take competition seriously. Training matters. Preparation matters. Teamwork matters. Results matter. We want players who want to get better, and teams that want to test themselves.
Nobody starts at the top. We want an environment where players can learn, experiment, make mistakes and improve. Through training, seminars, strategy sessions and experience, we’re building more than match-ready players. We’re building competitors.
Competition brings us together. Community keeps us together. Afuro Knights is for players, supporters, creators, organisers and everyone who wants to contribute to gaming culture in Botswana. You don’t have to be on the starting lineup to have a place here.
When we compete, we represent the Knights. We want to build teams that people are proud to play for and proud to support. Our ambition isn’t simply to enter competitions. It’s to build something people remember.
A competitive club needs players. But players need captains, coaches, organisers, creators, broadcasters, analysts, administrators and supporters. Every role contributes to the same thing: building the club.
That’s why Afuro Knights isn’t just about who gets picked for the next match. It’s about creating an organisation that can keep growing after the match is over.
We’re starting in Botswana, but we’re not thinking small. We want to see Afuro Knights compete at higher levels, develop stronger squads, host meaningful competitions and create opportunities for people who want to build a future around gaming. That takes time. It takes players. It takes partners. It takes a community. And it starts with the first team stepping onto the floor.
Afuro Knights was born from Afurotaku, a Botswana-based community built around Japanese pop culture, anime, gaming, cosplay and shared interests. Afurotaku started as a podcast in 2021 and grew into a wider community and events platform. From that foundation came the idea for something more focused on competition. That became Afuro Knights. The connection is part of our history, but the Knights have their own identity, their own people and their own path forward.
Afurotaku is where we came from. Afuro Knights is where we’re going.
The Knights badge isn’t about being the best before you’ve even started. It’s about committing to becoming better. Every player who wears it carries the responsibility of representing the team, respecting the competition and helping build the culture around it. You don’t inherit the badge. You earn it.
You don’t need a trophy cabinet. You need the willingness to show up, improve and contribute. If you’re ready to compete, we’re ready to hear from you.
